A lovely email from Cupid himself

Last Thursday was a very special day.

The annual Beattie McGuinness Bungay Woo-Off.

Where for one day only the whole agency transforms to a rose-scented, chocolate covered, serenading carnival of competitive-loving.

Not because we love each other but because we all want to win dinner for two at Hawksmoor.

The winner was a very filthy poem by the comically genius fingers of ‘Jamie I’.

But our personal favourite was this email from ACTUAL CUPID himself!

Then there was this one which I was chuffed to receive in addition to a red rose and some Hotel Chocolat: A  cryptic map and poem inviting me on a secret date with a man in a hat – a glass of bubbly at the Ivy no less.

nb – It was the correct way up until I uploaded it, when the blog programme made a point of flipping it sideways; much like my stomach once I’d been wooed by the lovely Sam Richardson here…

Finally, this one was very funny too. Stalking Lucy…

Of course, none of them came close to the amazing poetry blog from the clever Mr Bruce did last year, which even now has a special place in my heart – the creepy yet hilarious Poemsforlorelei

Suburban Banksy and foreign supermarkets…

…are just two of our favourite things.

At the end of last year we were asked to write a piece for the IPA about what inspires us.

Which was very flattering. The only snag was that, work being work, we didn’t have very long to do it in. So mine (Lol) ended up about six pages too long. But as Pascale and every great rambler knows, it takes a lot longer to write short things than it does long things!

Not only that, for some unholy reason I have left out two of my favourite screenwriters…

1) Aaron Sorkin – the patron saint of razorsharp dialogue. Although he’s most known for The Social Network, his best work (in my humble opinion) is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Get the box set if you’ve not seen it!

2) Bruce Robinson, the brilliant brilliant writer of How to get a head in advertising and Withnail and I. I really recommend reading the screenplay – it’s astonishingly written, and there are even more hidden gems in his stage directions.

All disclaimers aside, for anyone that’s interested, here is our piece on what inspires us as a team.

Thank you and a belated happy new year one and all…

Before He Was Famous

Here to brighten up your Friday afternoons is a teaser from the archives of the disarmingly bonkers genius Mark Denton Esq.

There’s much more where that came from, (and not just from Mark) but to see them, you’ll have to seek out your own lovely early scamps and send them into Nat and I!

We’ve decided that you have until end of January to submit them to us, so maybe make it a post-turkey activity to get up in the attic in between christmas day and new year?

Thanks Mark for your exemplary self-restraint in not posting the rest of them!

The rest of you ‘famous’ lot, get them sent in, so that the world may be at once inspired and tickled by your early marker-pieces.

(does that even work as a portmanteau? I’m not sure but Nat’s in Cambodia and she’s my Pun Referee, so it’s staying in for now).

MANY THANKINGS IN ADVANCE, Lol and  Nat

Please send your hopeful scampmissions to: Lorelei.mathias@bmbagency.com or Nathalie.turton@bmbagency.com
